New Babyorn feeding schedule ๐Ÿผ

How often, how much, and how to know it's going okay.

New Babyorns eat a lot โ€” and at first, not on any clock you'd recognise. The good news: you don't need a rigid schedule. You need to recognise hunger cues and keep a loose rhythm.

Rule of thumb: in the first 6 weeks, feed roughly every 2โ€“3 hours (8โ€“12 times in 24 hrs). Wake them for feeds during the day if they sleep past 3 hours.

Crying is a late cue. Earlier signs include:

Cluster feeding is normal ๐ŸŒ…

Many newborns bunch feeds together โ€” especially in the evenings, or during growth spurts at around week 2, 3, 6, and month 3. It's exhausting but short-lived. Hydrate, snack, and ride the wave.

Signs baby is getting enough

Breastfeeding vs. bottle schedules

Breastfed babies usually feed more often because breastmilk digests faster. Bottle-fed babies often stretch a little longer between feeds. Both are fine. Combo-feeding (a mix of both) is also fine.

When to worry ๐Ÿšฉ

Call your paediatrician if you see: fewer than 6 wet diapers after day 5, weight loss beyond 10% of birth weight, persistent lethargy, or feeds that always end in pain for you. Trust your gut.

Log feeds by just talking ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

"Left 12 minutes." "Bottle, 90 ml." New Baby parses it into a clean feeding log โ€” so you can see the pattern, not chase it.
